30 Strange Spoons
30 Strange Spoons
30 Strange Spoons: Measuring an Unhomed Time is a new artist’s book project with Turkish writer Ece Temelkuran (author of How to Lose Your Country: the 7 Steps from Democracy to Fascism and Together: A Manifesto Against a Heartless World), in collaboration with Betterpress Lab, Rome. Using excerpts from Ece’s most recent work, Nation of Strangers (2026) , the book combines new pieces of writing on the various spoons and their stories, with 30 silhouettes of the many stolen spoons she has been using to track her unhomed time. As Ece puts it, “These stolen coffee spoons are proof of my life, evidence that I lived the last ten years. They are also the timeline for the mutating homeless self from a state of being shrunken with fear to a self that learns how to begin living after being unhomed.” The book is 48 pages, in an accordion format, measuring 4 1/2” x 7”, with a stiff paper cover with printed spine, and can open flat to a length of 18 feet (11.5×18 cm, opens flat to 550 cm). Printed letterpress at DWRI in two passes on Gmund Cotton New Grey text in a silver and transparent varnish, and will be released in a signed edition of 250 copies.
NOTE: The book is currently in production, images shown are of the prospectus and examples of the tinted varnish and type on the cotton text and cover. SPECIAL pre-order pricing good through March 30th, before the book’s release on March 21, 2026 at Betterpress Lab, Rome.
