We have been collaborating with illustrator Laura Graham Genovesi (based in Assisi, Italy) for many, many years, over many, many projects. After seeing an earlier collaboration of ours at The Washington National Cathedral, the U.S. Senate Gift Shop inquired about commissioning a new watercolor from Laura of the U.S. Capitol, inspired by the Brumidi Corridor (with murals by Rome-born artist Constantino Brumidi) in the U.S. Senate. We happily accepted.
As Laura developed the watercolor, we designed and color separated the image, separating out the moon, stars, and lettering for foil stamping. The resulting cards were printed via offset lithography on 100# Mohawk Superfine White cover, eggshell finish, with hot foil stamping in dusted gold foil printed on our 1954 Heidelberg Windmill.
